Caching for faster loading website

What a caching plugin does?

It produces a copy of your recent updated web pages or posts and stores it on your server (not your hard drive) as a static HTML file.

So…when a visitor lands on your page it will show the old version of your page. The one that has NOT been updated.

When you clear your cache via your Caching plugin it will clear the old version and eventually Google will show the latest version.

Why you need a caching plugin for WordPress

Let’s go through a common WordPress hard-drivenewbie scenario – You have just made, edited and or updated a post/page. The current version is sitting on your hard drive.

Once you hit the publish or update button on your site will propagate to the entire world via your Internet Service Provider.

However for the sake of speed your server will show the old version (there are exceptions to this).

This means the search engines will not go to your hard drive and will not show your new version. In other words, it skips one step….this means faster load time.

Once you have cleared your cache the search engines will show the latest cleared cache version.

The server on your hosting account. This could be anywhere in the world! Once you hit the publish or update button on your WordPress site the Internet will propagate to the entire world via your Internet Service Provider.

However for the sake of speed your server will show the old version until you clear your cache.

So the big question is this? How does this speed up my site?  Easy…if you have thousands of pages and posts would it not make sense to load the latest version without having to visit your site each time a visitor visits your site!
